Hi all & yes im on the right forum and have been trying to obtain a 5" tachometer for my twin with not much sucsess and have been told that the mechanism from a BSA Bantam D shaped speedo can be converted to operate as a tacho mechanism and installed in the 5: shell which I also dont posess however electronic replicas of the smiths chronometric RC167 are available and could possibly be converted to mechanical.
I have also wondered if I could have the electronic tacho mentioned prior modified to run off the pulse(is there a pulse) from the kill switch point on the lucas mag ???? yes/no..thanks for any help in this matter ... Bill

Mick Hemmings the UK Norton specialist was selling electronic tacho's he got me to try one on my Rap, which is fitted with a Scintilla mag, I clamped the pickup to the kill switch lead and it worked fine, not sure if it would be any different on a Lucas.

Hello Bill, Yes, I used to run a Krober rev counter off the kill terminal, But every thing has to be clean and good contacts, Cheers Bill.
