Did someone worn me of the possible problems of using an ali' collar and that diffrent co efficients of expansion would cause me problems a few months back?

Try and find a nice cheap BSA Atd and remove the steel collar for your ATD..John

Yes, and avoid suppressed plug caps.

In the US, you can buy copper core wires with molded on non-suppressed caps meant for farm tractors at farm supply stores.

the wire was not much good for an HT lead though,kept stretching and the ignition ran retarded..john
