Armours Stainless Exhaust.

In a recent thread on twin plug ignition Howard commented on the poor fit of the Armours stainless steel exhaust system saying:

"No clearance between front pipe and timing chest, or back pipe and front head. Had to make a sleeve to fill gap where exhaust sections join."

Has anyone else found the same problem? Was the rear pipe just not long enough or was it the "Y" junction section that was too short? Is the end of the front pipe section left long enough to allow for flanging after fitting the exhaust nut?

Can Howard or anyone else comment on this.

I have already commented at some length about the Armours Vincent exhaust pipes on this forum some months ago and do not want to take up space repeating all that. Do a word search and you should be able to find the item. Very briefly the pipes, two sets, were manufactured with so many faults that they were unusable. It took three goes to get pipes which fitted. There is certainly a quality control problem at Armours, which is a pity as the price is acceptable, and if they concentrated they could make pipes which fitted. The silencers were OK.
