Anyone know where a fellow can purchase some aluminum 1050A H14 ( half hard) in North America. Doesn't appear to be any at the usual sources. Next question is.... if not available here, then what is the next best bet. Used for beating into oil and fuel tanks.

I used to work next door to an outfit that made tanks for tug and fish boats. They used 5051 if I recall correctly, bendable and salt resistant. The oil tank on my R3 was made by them.

It looks like the next best bet is 6061 if you check it on Makeitfrom:

https://www.makeitfrom.com/compare/...num/6061-AlMg1SiCu-3.3214-H20-A96061-Aluminum

This site is often useful for comparing metals.

If you are doing panel beating 6061 tends to crack. 5052 is good for cutting and forming, but it is closer to 6061 in being a little hard to form for some operations.

1100 is often the best for panel beaters and 3003 is also quite formable and easy to anneal, weld and easily available.

I have to make a gas tank soon and I was going to use 3003.
