If the bumpy wave form of a single-phase alternator is an issue for li-ion batteries, would a large capacitor (as fitted to some bikes instead of a battery) resolve it?

I use a single phase Kubota alternator with the regulator/rectifier that was recommended by the supplier and a "cheap" Lithium battery. No problems in two years but not much mileage.
