Alp has been working on 666, but his focus early this year has been building a 1955 Triumph 650 cc Thunderbird to run at El Mirage. The bike did 143.460 MPH running on petrol. That seems very fast for an old iron barrel, pre-unit Triumph!

Congratulations to Alp and the whole crew.

Must have been bored over size, the tank says M-VG 750. Still impressive.

David, do you have an up to date rule book? I think the oversize bore rule has been contested on occasions. AMA has it set at .050 oversize for vintage engines. Still interesting that Alp can
get that speed from a 750 vintage engine.

John,

No, I did not get one last year. I will order one this year. I assume that Alp is up to date on the rules:

This is pretty difficult to do on gas!

The new rule book hasn't changes much and still allows up to .050 over-bores on vintage engines.

Thanks for posting David.
Incredible speed first time out. Alp is continuously perfecting his engine building skills. And this engine just looks great in all details. Well done Alp!

You are allowed a .050" overbore on the original 84mm bore and original stroke to allow you to stay in the 1000cc Vintage class. If your bore is over that eg 90mm bore you will move to the next bigger class displacement (1350cc). If you increase your standard stroke you will also go up into the next capacity class. If you run original cases and heads you are still eligible for the 1350cc Vintage class.
