At an event in Biggin Hill in 1959, spectators were treated to the sight of Alan and John Reed blasting their Vincent Twin outfit, complete with tractor tyre on the rear, to victory on a day when Norman Surtees was the junior 250cc race winner.

Not many people realise that his more famous brother John was a reasonable trials rider having gained the plaudits of the Motor Cycling reporter at the I959 Three Musketeers trial for "the fastest and cleanest three hundred yard muddy climb on section four.

I should have realised about the chain, still need to get myself tested though, not only my eyesight.
