If you are talking about the Mikes engine I am not certain. However, most builders shoot for .035". At .050" or more gap and the beneficial effects diminish. Squish is doing two things: creating turbulence in the combustion chamber and quenching the heat from the piston by sending it to the head.
As a result of the tight clearances needed, titanium rods are a small problem due to the stretch they have compared to steel. The stretch would have to be factored into the clearance.
