Two vintage barn find motorcycles are among the star lots at the upcoming Bonhams Autumn Stafford Sale, which will be held between October 15 and 16.

The bikes in question are a Sunbeam Model 9 ridden throughout WW2 by its RAF former owner and a New Hudson once owned by a Brooklands racer.
The Model 9 dates back to 1928 and was owned by Walter Stoney, a mechanic with 101 Squadron who owned it for 60 years before it was stored for 35 years after his death in 1987. One of just 19 to exist, it’s being sold with an estimate of £10,000-£12,000.
1912 New Hudson
The New Hudson is a 1912 2 ¾hp model with a J.A.P. engine and is being offered by the descendants of Brooklands racer Angus-Maitland, who last rode it in the 1960s. It has an estimate of £3000-£5000.
“To offer a barn find is one thing but for it to be the property of an ex-Brooklands Racer is amazing,” said Bonhams’ Andy Barrett. “We’re delighted to have been entrusted to offer this important motorcycle in the upcoming Autumn Stafford Sale.”

Other early highlights of the sale include a 1928 Excelsior 750cc Super-X, which is estimated to fetch between £20,000 and £24,000 and a 1955 BSA 520cc Gold Star, set to go for between £8000 and £10,000.
