My Father sold the bike in the early 70s.
I am looking for it as I have some old tax discs for it and would like to pass them onto the present owner.
Bonjour , this will probably muddy the waters but in the early 60's we had a motley crew of bikers in the Luton area ( Bedfordshire, UK) mainly riding Bonnies, Dommies, Velos and CSRs and one day my mate Alan Thompson of Houghton Regis, near Luton, turned up on a Rapide with an Irish registration number. Could this be the bike in question ?? We used to ride to the Busy Bee on the Watford By-Pass, Jacks Hill Café at Gravely, nr Stevenage and the Ace on the North Circ. mainly in the summer and, in the winter the Spanish Doll in Luton, the Caramba coffee bar in Dunstable and the Ranch Café on the Watling street south of Dunstable .
These rides nearly always ended with us escorting the Vin home, him with no lights and two of us sandwiching him between us away from the prying eyes of the "boys in blue"!! As we said, "Lucas invented darkness and Miller perfected it !!"
Happy days and hope this helps,
Best regards, Alan

Not the same bike as it was still in Ireland in the early 60s and my Father did not sell it until the early 70s.
Thank you for the info though.

I went after a white Shadow in Luton at the top of the hill in Stockingstone road off the A6 he wanted £100 for it and I though that was too much and bought a Dark Blue Rapide in better condition near Duxford for £65.

Hi guys
Bit dated reply now to the thread but as a biker/rocker in the 60s and living in Dunstable and was then the leader of the pack from the crowd at the cafe on the A5 opposite Delco by the traffic lights I certainly remember a Vinny coming in from time to time, used to have banter about who had the best bike him or me on my 500 Goldie. Cafe closed down in 64 and we moved up the road to the Caramba, sometimes the Ranch and the Doll in Luton. Civic Hall on a Monday night and Cali on a Friday. Hope you have tracked down the bike now, I managed to find that my Goldie is still running somewhere in south London. Great days, great bikes all the best to any that remember me.
Cheers
