Quite right Len, I wouldn't have been riding one all these years if they'd been rubbish, but, as you say, they did have some shortcomings. I'd like to know who came up with a tail light unit where the bulb holder was insulated and the bulb terminals switched to earth, and the guy who designed? the brake light switch must have had an awful grudge against MZ. On the other hand, the helically cut primary drive gears and the clutch throwout would frighten japanese manufacturers silly. Cheers, Stu.

Nothing wrong with MZ's Stu.I had two of them and found them to be a pleasure to ride once you had got rid of the poor quality East German bearings, final drive chain and tyres.

No such problems with Puchs (& any way not from the Eastern countries) .

My 1967 PUCH 250 'twingle' two-stroke sold in department store SEARS in the USA. The fat sister to 1954 SGS. You ordered from catalog which had everything and delivered to a store near you - Amazon 1.0.
