Can anyone tell me the Lucas P/N for the Stop Lamp Switch to my 1948 Rapide? My Frame Number is after that given for the cut-over from Miller to Lucas at # 2340. None of the Lucas books I have give a p/n before 1951-54, which is #31281A Type 54C and is not the same one for the 1955 models. Also, can anyone identify what is in place now on my RFM right leg in photo? I can't see any numbers, at least without removing it. It appears to be black Bakelite and has a U-shaped metal bracket attaching it to the RFM leg. I am assuming it is not original. Thank you.

Lucas type 22B, part no. 31437A
Fitted to many UK cars of the time and still reproduced. The VOC Spares Co stock them.

Looks like I mislead you. The B/C spares book I looked at listed the above but this is the later type fitted to D's.
The B/C one is Lucas part no 31281 seem to have different type references 51 or 54 with either a C or M after. Most repos do not have a back plate the VOCSC have them laser cut and supply with new switches.

The Vincent spares lists show PR39 with no Lucas number, or PR39/1 with "Type 22B. 31437A". But the latter appears to be a supercession, and is the one supplied on Series D bikes. Based on the Series B MO36, the early Lucas switch was 31281 type 54C.

Gentlemen,
Thank you all for your help. In researching this, I had found PR39 is Miller 43E but only to Frame 4320, when it was changed to a Lucas item but I couldn't find the number. So thank you all for that - and the comment about the open back and rear cover plate.

That tyre still holds air and has lots of tread after 60 years, so I am not sure what is the problem with it? ;-)
I have a new rim and spokes on the shelf but am undecided on the tyre (or tire as I am in USA). People on this forum seem to be very partial to the Avon AM26 Roadrider and the Dunlop TT100 (and a few others). I like the looks of the TT100 and had good experience with them but that was long ago. Good observation on your part. Thank you.
