Trying to improve my welding, I saw this on the tube, Might be handy, 2 bits of rectangle box steel and a bit of angle iron, If you want to hold something flat to work with.
It gives lots of leverage, Like long brake arms !!, Holds things really tight, The angle iron is on a pivot. Cheers Bill. DSCN0003 (2).JPG

Another bit of welding practice for you Bill..I spent a couple of hours Tig welding an F106, usual break out at the back left. I didn't find this needed doing for a friend of mine till it came back from the sand blasters, it had been filled with body filler 1/2" deep:eek:..john

I can't afford TIG. I used to find that sort of thing when mending cars, Under bits of filler was old news papers.
I have had a MIG for years, But about 13 years ago I bought a cheap ARC welder, Never got to use it, It's been fun, Ron has helped me and there are good bits on youtube to show you how to do it.
Trying to work out what to use on my steel F106, Mostly 1/4" steel plate, I think I will go with MIG, Mine now works better than ever after adjusting the drive motor and i bought myself a welding helmet, Never used one before, Always shut my eyes !!, Well Sometimes I got it wrong !.
It's good to try new things, I do a lot with Wood now also.
Got to keep the old Brain going !. Cheers Bill.
