Which Insurer / Agreed Value?

I have recently bought a Comet and regarding insurance i have a couple of questions;

1. Is there an insurer that the VOC recommends?
2. I am going to do this as an agreed value, do the insurers get the value from the VOC?

Many thanks in advance.

Steve.

One method, with which I have been involved, is to get the local section organiser to value the bike. The insurance company that I was dealing with at the time was prepared to accept that a person with that status could be trusted to value the bike sufficiently accurately and honestly to be trusted. Ask the insurance companies as to what they will accept. They might all differ.

You may have to be persistant to find a realistic agreed value. A few years ago with Carol Nash I could not get them to understand that the valuation (done at the time by, I think, the VMCC) was several thousand pounds the wrong side of realistic. I have since changed insurer. Forewarned is forearmed.

I thought you did the value yourself and then paid what they wanted, I have been with Carole for yonks,
When I built my new !! Comet in 2015, They asked what it was worth and then told me the cost, Same as with my other bikes years ago. Cheers Bill.

I valued my Rapide at £50k (who knows?) with Hagerty and paid £120 less than with FJ

5 years ago, the way i got my Black Shadow valued was to go to one of the big auction houses, and ask to talk to the valuar they put a £90,000 on my Shadow combination when my local section valued it they said about £35,000

When I switched my insurance recently to Hagerty they asked what I thought each bikes valuation was during the phone conversation and they said they had a guide range and as long as you was inside that range for a bike then they just accepted it as a figure. So as long as you have a realistic valuation idea then all will be OK, but if you think your Shadow is worth the same as a Lightning you may have a problem. I then had to provide photos of each bike within a month of renewing which they then confirmed and that covered the agreeded value process. They preferred photos emailing which makes everything very easy, but would accept printed photos posting if you dont use a computer. It was just so easy compared to getting forms filled in and signed by third parties.

I insured with Carole Nash last year. I gave them my estimated value which was the same as the purchase price 48k. They asked me to send pictures of the machine. They wrote back agreeing the value. I'm not sure what I do this year as to value, and on CPI plus 10%?
