Gunga Din in its life would have most parts replaced ( up grades), many times including Crankcases, last rebuild at Vincents was by Jack Lazenby with D cases but still retains engine number 1/71. a Vincent owner who has a few race bikes Norton and Velos tell me if race bikes blow a crankcase the new case is stamped with the old number to tie up with the racing log book?
