The Strang owners son, James Culver won the 500cc Championships in the UK I think 2014, I saw the large silver cup that he had, and when you see names like Stirling Moss, Jim Russell , Tom Bridger engraved on it memory's do come back, James used a post war Comet Engine the make of the car ?

Yes it went into the Vincent 3 wheeler in 1957 and raced at I think at Snetterton and was blow to pieces driven by Ted Davis, and John Penn, broke big crank pin this is on Vincent records

David may know, but I read that the RFM from the Phil Heath Flash went into the Vincent car along with Gunga's engine.

Bob Culver has a real treasure in Colin Strang's car. Colin is pretty much credited with starting that class of racing. A great part of Series A and Vincent history.

The Strang was built by Colin Strang and Clive Lomas and was basically a baby Fiat chassis (strengthened) with a Fiat front end and half a Fiat rear end with provision for the rear sprocket drive and quarter elliptic springs and torsion bars (in its 1946 form) and the car had (quite ground breaking back then) hydraulic brakes. Originally there were two Vincent-HRD engines both alcohol. A 500 TT for high speed fitted with a megaphone giving 45BHP and a dirt track 500 with better low down torque for hill climbs, it had a Norton 4 speed box.No doubt like many competition machines it was altered over the years but thats the original season two set up.
