Hi -have had a slight disaster with my 52 Shadow-the lever snapped at the splined end and rewelding is not an option -even if we knew the original material specs of this special s/s alloy. Finding a new or top cond. lever and splined shaft looks to be a prob. from where I sit- so any suggestions re search?

Thanks

Hi Barry,

One of our club members in the West London Section has had a similar problem with no joy so far - the spares co. don't have them and are waiting for a batch via Vin Parts I understand.

You could try either of the specialists who make "new" Egli bikes - John Mossey in the UK (JMR) or Francois Goddet (I think) in France - they may either have some that they might part with or give you the manufacturing specification to have one made down under.

Finally, have you tried Terry Prince in Australia - there's isn't much about Vincents that Terry does not know?

Cheers

Stuart

Hi,
What is the reticence with a welded repair? I would have thought that with correct preparation and TIG welding a perfectly good repair could be made. The only original Vincent part I have ever modified was a twin kickstart. The motor was fitted to a Norvin and I cut and welded the kickstart shaft right down near the root - no problems at all.

Hi thanks for the comment-I did have the 'lever built up 5 years ago and heat treated after the splines had disappeared to metal heaven somewhere, and made up a square ended shaft to match the newly squared hole in the lever-something like Harley (!) do. Seems that a repeat exercise is pointless- but maybe interim only
