The future of biking

There is a hidden agenda with electric vehicles just like Fords lean burn engine was bypassed for catalytic converters,'they' are conveniently bypassing hydrogen as a fuel for ICE (and the reduction of CO2 while making the fuel)
My guess is that electric vehicles are more controlable by Big Brother ,the majority of people will not individulise them like ICE vehicles (who ever heard of a fridge owners club) that way fleets can be leased out, no-one will own a car and more money can be made and the population will be more controlled.

I would like to be able to argue your points as they paint a rather dystopian future but I am afraid I agree with you. What I find disconcerting is the way people head towards that future like moths to a flame. The new Equinox the wife and I are leasing, because the purchase cost/payments are ridiculous, has GM's OnStar. This not only tracks the vehicle but OnStar operators can slow and stop the vehicle if requested to do so by police. The system can not only unlock the doors if you lock your keys inside but can also restrict fuel flow to engine. If you subscribe to the service there is crash detection, if you have an accident an OnStar operator calls the car to confirm the accident and using the on board GPS locates the car and informs emergency services. All very nice but the system can be used to track movement. All newly manufactured cars have "black boxes" that monitor vehicle and driver activity the same as aircraft "black boxes" to provide data and information in the event of a crash. It continually overwrites at a specified interval but in the event of a crash it stops overwriting. The data is accessible remotely and is supposedly owned by the vehicle owner, but if you are leasing the vehicle you are not the owner, so your movements are being recorded. Most police vehicles and tow trucks and other fleet vehicles are equipped with license plate readers in an effort to identify stolen vehicles or vehicles that are subject to repossession. The fleet vehicles just go about there normal business and eventually a vehicle subject to repossession turns up and a picture is painted of the routine of the person in possession of the vehicle, this aids the repo man in picking an easy time grab the vehicle without confrontation. All seems a good idea until you realize that it is only a thin line to be crossed when everyone's movements are tracked and analyzed to be sure we are all on the up and up, if something seems questionable then the "Man" is at the door asking you to explain your recent movements.
As we allow people to abandon their personal responsibilities, responsibility for their personal actions, so our personal liberties are eroded.

Come the EMF pulse bomb the only things running will be unadulterated magnetos - until you need to fill up again....
Oh and all those data bases will be so much empty space...
