Winterbottom's twin engine 1C/1470, 24/5/50 was fitted with new crankcases,by Denis Minett, the old cases survived and at a later date were made up as a Lightning which I believe still around.

The forerunner of Coopers was Colin Strang who was a New Zealander that moved to the uk pre war. during the war he had a 1938 Fiat 500 chassis which he fitted in to it a HRD TTR engine and was the first 500cc racing car and raced with great success, the car is still in the UK owned by a well known Vincent enthusiast.
