Mudguard

I've just gone outside to measure my C. The arcuate distance between the fixing holes on the ends of the forward rear stays is 120 mm. I've no reason to think this isn't standard. Looks right, anyway.
(I've just discovered that the D doesn't have these forward stays, only "the lifting handle".)

Graeme. There is a full write up on the rear mudguard in `Know Thy Beast` pages 47-49. Hope this helps. deejay499

hi tom, i'm actually after the length between the stay mounts where it mounts onto the rfm with the brake light attached and the mudguard 300mm plus. i'm trying to work out whether my guard or my brackets are incorrect, or both!
thanks graeme

DO YOU MEAN THE DISTANCE BETWEEN CENTRES ON EACH STAY? I HAVE THE BIKE WITH ME TODAY SO IT'LL TAKE 5 MINUTES TO GO OUT AND MEASURE IT.

Graeme: I would call that the centre to centre distance. I can measure it for you, but not right now. Somewhere in the literature however it points out that where exactly everything goes is between guess and god, and there are no exact figures. I'll take the measurement and send it, but at the front mount of the rear, there are three bolts and a reinforcement strip. The stays bolt to the outlying holes. There is one hole at 12 o'clock, and the stay holes are about 60 degrees either side of that.

I do recommend that you buy, in order, Know Thy Beast, Forty Years On, and Another Ten Years. They are invaluable.
