No Secret name for me, beside I'm one of those low forehead Velocette owning types, and I got in with no sweat. Something new for my spam software to deal with!!

Hello all,
Congratulations, Graham. Thanks for all the hard work. Yup, it wasn't easy to register. But, you reset my password, and got me back on stream in just a few seconds. I'll keep posting to learn the ins and outs of this and then get the Ontario Section Forum moving.

Cheers, Phil Mahood

I already belong to jtan and the New Bonneville Forum on Delphi forums, which contains hundreds of other forums accessible to me, and on neither did I need to go through the hoops necessary to enter this forum. Neither of the forums I have mentioned suffer from spammers. I have a unique membership number for my membership of the VOC, so why is it necessary to repeat my address and date of birth? This is after all only a motorcycle club, not a secret society. Am I missing something somewhere?

VincentHRD,
This new forum is a quantum leap in terms of improvement over the old forum and I feel those responsible should be applauded and commended. The registration procedure is slightly more complex than most, but then we have a "members only" area which does require some additional security.
Please don't moan, just use it and enjoy it

Registration too much trouble?

I have a unique membership number for my membership of the VOC, so why is it necessary to repeat my address and date of birth? This is after all only a motorcycle club, not a secret society. Am I missing something somewhere?

Yes - you're right. You do have a unique Membership number, this is why we need YOU to quote it so we know who you are. We can then manually confirm your status as a paid up VOC Member, then grant you access to the whole site.

Unfortunately, there is no way of automating this process (unless you're an expert on php hypertext programming - if you are, please contact contact me and I'll get you to write something into the code to automate the system and save me having to manually approve all applications).

Or are you suggesting we should open up the WHOLE site to non-members?

Great Step Forward

Graham & Team,
Marvellous job. I know it is a lot of work to get one of these things going. This development will pay off for years and years. No, this isn't a JTRAN rival. Listservers and forums are two different animals. Hope all your planning works out and that we can keep these pages clean and cheerful.

Graham, I was joking about the level of difficulty in registering, although I was hoping it would be too much for the Velo owners. On reflection I can see where a Thruxton owner might make it through, and apparently one did, so it can't be all that difficult.

As you say, once registered you are done, it is just a click to enter.

Try to please everybody and somebody isn't going to like it.

I'm sure Robert Watson took your comments about Velocettes as tongue in cheek.

It's getting there

As with all forum's it takes a little getting used to, as all run slightly differently. But I feel that it's a good start compared to the old club forum, and if we all use it then GOOD.:)
