Continental Air Pollution Zones and route planning

My brother spends much of our UK winter in Spain. He drives his camper van there with a motor cycle strapped to the back and tows a home built three wheeler that doubles as a boat trailer and run around for when the camper is settled in place on the campsite. ( Yes it does sound complicated, you have to see it to believe it.:))
He recently sent me an email saying that I might find the information about air pollution restricted areas on the continent when travelling by motor transport. With new "Green Zone" restriction areas coming in he will have to revise his normal route through France when he drives back to the UK in March. If you are planning on attending any of the rallies on the continent it might be a good idea to check and see if your planned route might involve a pollution zone.
We already have a restricted zone in London and I didn't realise how many there were in Europe. Countries outside the EU may also have polution restricted zones. There is a link below to more information.

Well its no good crying over spilled milk poor old motorcycles have been gathered up with deisel cars and old lorries and its no good wishing we had put up a better defence.
Its a funny world where its thought lugging a Vincent on a trailer causes less pollution than riding one .. well I for one will go on a modern bike to Sardinia hey ho.

Well I have my Crit air licence for my trail down to Sardinia (thanks Eddie) I see that France is no better than the UK catering for motorcycles without windshields "must be displayed on your car windshield" it says, I can do that but at the appropriate time it will be 1500 miles away from me but orders must be obeyed:eek:

I do not have a Smartphone, nor a tablet, and I have no intention of getting either. I have a diesel camper and only old bikes. Looks like I won't be going anywhere on the Continent again.
Stuff the lot of 'em.

Brother John was telling me recently that carrying your own breathalyser was no longer necessary but I would double check to be sure. Don't forget to ride with your lights on as that is something else they can stop you for if they feel like it.

Hi Ed,
That is correct.
For M/Cycles the Gendarme's will not enforce the requirement, but will for cars etc

Out here in Vietnam small bikes rule!! Only the crashelmet rule is more or less obeyed! But to ride a bike of more than 175 cc is a nightmare of bureaucracy!
