Interesting, pretty amazed there is enough spare metal to machine out of the Roadholder yokes to fit the large diameter of the USD legs as most are well over 50mm, Pic ?.
The early Norvil Alloy lower yokes are very weak as standard, Mine have hairline cracks, The later have better pinch bolt fitting. Cheers Bill.

I think we have touched on this annoyance before web sites that list things like suspension units etc by common bike models and give no clue to dimensions
Now my mate is stuck with finding somewhere that gives dimensions of fork springs for 35mm Ceriani Forks they came off we know not what but look like original ones and he needs some springs for a twin Egli
Just measured the 35mm Marzocchi's on the spare Egli Comet. They are 68cm long from axle centre and 71 cm overall. Bought them in the 70s for the Egli twin but never used them as acquired more substantial forks, they were Marzocchi replacements for for a TZ Yamaha so are period. May ease the issue when I try to get an age related registration for the Comet , we have had the unused frame for over 35 years as it is the first one Ian had made. HRD 101 E .

Now the ones I saw yesterday were as set of upside down Suzuki forks all mounted in Norton Roadholder triple trees on a current HRDton project! Oh - and between them at the bottom an alloy replica Manx brake.
Pretty cute.
USDs from a Honda on Comet special.

The Ceriani 35 GP's I bought off Ebay for my Comet special are 28-1/2 inches from axle center to the top of the tubes below the nut. This is longer than Jim mentioned for his Egli Comet, so I may have to slide them up a bit, we'll see., They are somewhat unusual with what looks to be custom yokes that put the fork tubes 7-1/2 inches apart so the Grimeca 4LS wheel can fit well in the 6-1/8 inch distance at the axle. It is a bit hard to measure, but the offset looks to be around 2". The guy I got them from says thay may have come from someone associated with Team Hansen Racing, but it had been a while so he had trouble remembering. The yokes have a strange arrangement that uses a set screw in addition to the pinch bolt to lock the tubes. It is not an afterthought since the yokes have a boss for these cast in. I don't see any indentations in the tubes from this method, and it works well with just a slight amount of pressure

As I said mine were originally intended for a TZ Yamaha so have probably the shortest stanchions available. The longer length will give you some flexibility with the front ride height if necessary. In the pic of the Comet special with the USDs I compressed the forks about as far as they would go with a heavy duty ratchet strap as Bob was concerned there was insufficient clearance. Think there is enough if a new exhaust pipe with a tight bend is fabricated. Would have needed a one off anyway.

OK the fork springs currently fitted to the 35mm original forks are:
Length 480mm
width 27mm
spring thickness 4.45mm
Inside diameter 18.5mm

Inside diameter is important as it fits over a valve, 18.5mm or larger, no smaller.
So looking for an alternative stronger spring is difficult when all the web sites start with the old refrain
"motorcycle make?"
He is not looking for alternative forks

Looks like they are available from Germany via ebay. "Caferacer" are not in the UK and look to be expensive. Maxton whose services I have used in the past are re-manufacturing These Ceriani's so could be good port of call for advice and spares.

I have found Maxton to be very helpful, though my enquiry was in relation to rear shockers not forks
