I recently purchased a Rapide that is fitted with Amal concentric carbs type 626 300.

The engine is running very rich so I need to check the jetting etc.

Could you please give me some idea of what these should be.

Regards

David

626 is awfully small, I'd expect to use 928s on a Rapide and a 930 on a Comet.
Don’t the 626s have a smaller bolt pitch than the Rapide or Shadow monoblock adapters?

I think it will be the slide too rich, Bruce's bit from Bill Parr says the new petrol will make your Bike too weak, I have found with my bikes it makes them too rich.
Bill's chart also says 240 main for Mk2 28mm, My amal chart says only 220 main for the 30 mm, Strange.
Cheers Bill.

Flange mounts
Yes, the Ds had flange mount Monoblocks with the same bolt pitch as 900 series Concentrics. Club shop also used to supply clip fitting adapters to carry Monoblocks and these had the same pitch as 900 series Concentrics.
I believe that the 600 series was a smaller pitch, as used on smaller Triumphs. Two of my section members have been sold 626s by a localish Triumph dealer but, as they are smaller than the original 1&1/16" carbs, I'd opt for a 28mm which is over 1 &1/16" but under 1&1/8". Neither member ended up fitting them. One because his camshaft fell apart before fitting them and he managed to get his money back on the bike and the other because he took my advice and took them back to change for 928s. For Shadow or Comet I would use 930 which takes you over the original carb size.
