Three Vincents showed up at NJMP in 2018: David Tompkins, Scott Dell and Randy Hoffman. It is great to have three Vincents running together! Unfortunately, there was lots of misadventure this year. David attended Friday's practice and was testing out some new brakes. They proved to be sufficiently more powerful than the last brake shoes and induced a wobble during a harder than planned stop to avoid another rider. I have to admit some culpability as David was riding without a new modified steering stem. Amazingly, David got it all back together and raced the whole weekend with two second place finishes. He cut his lap time 12 seconds from the previous year.
This is a shot of David, actually two Davids, David Borbeau following on his championship Harley, but I am not sure which turn.
Three Vincents also finished both days:
Left to right: David Tompkins, Alex McLane (Norton) and Randy Hoffman. Randy was the only Vincent that stayed upright the whole weekend. Scott, who came in 4th both days ended up going down during a wet period on Sunday.
Sorry to see so much work to be done, but Scott is a top notch Vincent builder, as is David. The bikes will look undamaged at the next race!
